Development in the mining industry is featured by increased requirements for crushing and processing ore and ore products. This is explained by increased demand for the output of steel grinding balls used in crushing and processing of mineral products. The steel grinding balls are made on two-roll ball rolling mills devised for rolling short solids of revolution. These ball rolling mills are mainly designed for making of steel grinding balls of a certain diameter, from highcarbon and medium-carbon steel raw materials. This article presents a review of theoretical solutions and practical findings from scientific research conducted in our republic, into the manufacture of steel grinding balls made of high-carbon steel by hot rolling method. The most important technology for calibration of the rolling process has also been developed. The difference in the technology of calibration of ball-rolling rolls having different sizes of screw calibers when changing a diameter of the grinding ball has found its theoretical and practical rationale. Moreover, information required for calibration technology was being developed based on technical parameters of the ball rolling mill. Cutting of screw surfaces obtained according to accurate geometric dimensions of the grooves of ball-rolling rolls with variable pitch, was made on a screw-cutting lathe equipped with a special copying device.
