Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study on the hydrogenation process of pyrolysis distillate in an autoclave and the material balance of the hydrogenation process. The experiment used pyrolysis distillate obtained from the “Uz-Kor Gas Chemical” plant, a palladium catalyst, and autoclave equipment. To study the catalytic processing of pyrolysis distillate, an experimental setup was assembled, including an autoclave, frame, electric drive, transformer, thermoelectric heater, hydrogen cylinders, and control and measuring instruments. The optimal operating conditions for pyrolysis distillate hydrogenation were determined as follows: temperature – 150 °C, hydrogen pressure – 3 MPa; hydrogen concentration in the gas phase – 75 % (vol.), circulation of hydrogen-containing gas – 200 nm³/m³ of feedstock. Elemental analysis of the hydrogenate, gas chromatography, mass spectrometry, and IR spectral analyses were performed. As a result, the nitrogen content decreased from 7.4 % (wt.) to 0.04 % (wt.), and the sulfur content from 9.24 % (wt.) to 0.05 % (wt.). IR spectra indicated saturation of unsaturated bonds and a decrease in the number of aromatic rings. As a result of hydrogenation, the content of alkanes in pyrolysis distillate decreased by 36.7 %, and aromatic compounds by 50.7 %. Keywords: pyrolysis distillate, hydrogenation, hydrogenate, autoclave, material balance.
