The article presents the characteristics of wool fibers and raw materials for the production of bicomponent yarn. This article discusses the development of new types of yarn that are raw materials for woven and knitted products. The purpose of the research is to select silk and wool fibers according to technological parameters, and obtain bicomponent yarn. In the production of yarn, the fineness of the fibers, the degree of their contamination and the degree of extraction of pure fiber are of great importance; these indicators are determined experimentally. The properties of wool fibers of four different degrees of coarseness used as raw materials after washing are determined. The suitability of wool fibers for mixing with staple yarn and silk fibers is determined. The effect of fiber content on the strength of the yarn is theoretically calculated. It turns out that natural silk, which has a low linear density, increases the friction forces between wool fibers and gives products made from it a silky, shiny appearance. The optimal value of the proportion of silk fibers in the yarn is determined depending on its strength.
